Happy Hump Day!

Welcome to Wednesday! My scheduled guest for today was Melissa Toler and seeing as we aired on Sunday I wanted to take this opportunity to share a bit with you about my journey, why the language around health and beauty is so damaging in our current culture, and PLEASURE! Pleasure has become a guiding principle in my life. Slowly over the last year I have invited more and more of this elusive creature into my life and contrary to my beliefs, I actually feel like I am more grounded, focused, passionate, and productive than I ever have been. What a difference it makes when you are doing more of what you enjoy... and I don't mean this in a sarcastic way. I mean that, in our culture we are taught that if we succumb to all things pleasure we will be lazy blobs that sit on the couch all day and do only things that detract from our wellbeing. I was so afraid of what monster I would become if I allowed more space for pleasure, fun, spontaneity, less "shoulds", and more "hell yeahs". Turns out, I had nothing to fear at all. In fact, the exact opposite happened. Because I do more of what I love to do, I have more resilience and less loathing towards the necessary tasks in life and more ambition and determination because most of my time and energy goes into things that give me life, not suck me dry of it!

How can you make room for more pleasure in your life?

If you could do something for pure joy and pleasure what would it be?

What makes you scream, "hell yes!"?

What do you need to give yourself permission for to do more of the above in your life?

What prevents you from experiencing pleasure? Can you do anything to shift this?

Until next time... Stay Wild,

Dana
